Soil-water-plant resources are natural gift to mankind. Soil degradation is a process which lowers the current and/or future capacity of the soil to support human life. Over grazing, deforestation, faulty cultivation, shifting cultivation and carelessly build roads on the catchment areas have led to devastating effects down stream. These include gulling and floods leading to destruction of farm land and villages, drop in flow during the dry season and consequent loss of crops, siltation of reservoirs and canals. The problem has been further aggravated due to high rate of population growth. Thus continuous degradation of production base and imbalance of land- water-plant- human- animal system is leading to ecological imbalance and economic insecurity. PLAN Foundation is dedicated to provide its services to the Government and other stakeholder to manage the watershed area.
